It’s that time of year again! Time to get ready for the upcoming school year. Here’s your guide to what you need to know to keep your children and your family healthy. Use the headings throughout the document to navigate the different topics we felt were important for you to know as the new school year approaches.
We are all thinking about getting the kids clothes, getting those school supplies, and preparing for the end of summer break. If you’re needing help using the resources out there to navigate towards success, check out the bottom of the page for more information about our newest program: The Bridge Project.
Vaping
Vaping was a problem for most schools last year. Students from high school, middle school, and yes, elementary school had vapes confiscated from them in Georgia. It’s important as a parent to be informed about the danger they pose to your child’s health.
Preventing Sickness
One thing we don’t always think about is how to prevent sickness. If you identify with needing to handle many sicknesses over the school year, you want to pick yourself up some Vitamin C supplements.
When cold and flu season comes, these packets are a lifesaver at giving an immune boost that keeps your immunity high. If you’re not getting enough vitamin C, you will be more susceptible to colds. If you are taking vitamin C while you have a cold, it could prevent complications such as pneumonia by boosting your immune system.
Immunizations
Make sure your child is up to date on required immunizations for school. If they are not, head to your local Department of Public Health to get them completed. There are also numerous vaccines that are recommended, which you can also receive at your local DPH.
We would like to highlight three vaccines that are often overlooked.
The Flu Vaccine is a vaccine you should receive annually, and you can read about why in our article on that topic.
The HPV Vaccine is a key step for anyone wanting to prevent cervical cancer. Learn everything you need to know here.
If you want to make it a little harder for some stray COVID to infect you, make sure you are up to date on your boosters.
